SERVICE PROJECTS

Activities with impact

Groups visiting the Sacred Valley can take part in the daily work of Sach’a Munay. Plant native trees, work in the permaculture garden, or help a local school. Every contribution goes to our programmes with farmers, schools and families.

FOR GROUPS

Work with the land

These experiences are hands-on. We adapt them to the size, the interests and the physical condition of your group. All of them need to be coordinated in advance.

Tree planting experience

Planting a tree is a celebration for us. It reminds us of the old bond between people and the forest, and of the living system that sustains us. With every tree we plant and care for, our connection with this land grows.

We start by digging the holes. The Sikuris play with us, musicians of the siku, an Andean wind instrument that brings strength and joy. We bless each tree with kintus, coca leaves that carry our prayers, with chicha de jora, a fermented yellow corn drink offered in gratitude for the fertility of the land, and with flowers, to call beauty and blossoming. We close with a collective blessing to welcome the trees.

Permaculture experience

Permaculture is a design system rooted in the patterns of nature. It helps people restore ecosystems while producing their own food. This is a chance to learn with your hands and use all your senses.

You choose the activities and we fit them into two hours.

  • Seeds and seedlings. We prepare a good substrate, fill the trays and sow the varieties the garden needs. We can also prepare cuttings and tree seedlings for future reforestation.
  • Compost. We go to the composting area and build a pile with the right proportions of dry and green organic matter, and learn which materials can be composted and which cannot.
  • Growing beds. Double digging, a biointensive method that gives the soil a better structure so roots reach more nutrients. Then transplanting, plant associations and crop rotation. Double digging asks for good physical condition.
  • Chicken coop. Chickens dig the soil, eat kitchen and garden waste and give eggs rich in nutrients. We feed them, fill the drinkers, collect the eggs and clean the coop.
