Sach’a Munay is a Peruvian non-profit. We work with farmers, schools and families in the Sacred Valley to grow healthy food and repair the land, using permaculture and ancestral knowledge.
Who we are
Sach’a Munay is a Peruvian non-profit in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, an hour from Cusco city. We chose this valley because the soil is rich in minerals and because the old Andean knowledge is still alive here.
Since 2015 we have run workshops in agroecology and permaculture for local farmers. We also keep an experimental field where we test regenerative methods on local crops such as the Sacred Valley choclo corn, with clover cover crops, compost teas and natural fertilisers.
Misión
We help local communities return to regenerative ways of living and producing, based on permaculture ethics and ancestral farming knowledge, with a focus on the education, nutrition and safety of children.
Visión
A society that values cultural diversity and honours indigenous wisdom, and that builds living systems which are fair, reciprocal and healthy.
Where we work
The Sacred Valley of the Incas, in the province of Calca, Cusco. Our office, nursery and organic farm are in Arin, next to Munay Sonqo.
Our work
Five programmes that all start with the soil.

Permacultura
We design farming systems that follow the patterns of nature.

Jardines orgánicos
3,000 m² of vegetable beds, grown with permaculture methods and biol fertiliser.

Talleres de agricultura orgánica
Free courses of 12 sessions for local farmers, on our land and in their own gardens.

Nutrición y huertos escolares
Gardens, lunch and extra teaching support in four public schools.

Escuela de Padres
Workshops for parents on nutrition, parenting and family life. Our most requested programme.
Partners and alliances
Munay Sonqo Retreat & Yoga Center
Our sister organisation and our main source of funding. It gives a large part of its profits to our programmes every year. Our office and nursery sit next to the centre, and our farm supplies its kitchen with fresh produce.
Gerencia Regional de Producción, Cusco
Gerepro has partnered with Sach’a Munay to host and accredit our permaculture courses, taught by Mauro Escalante.
